The short version
summeriser. ("the Extension") is a browser extension that uses AI to summarize web articles, PDFs, and YouTube videos, and allows you to ask questions and take quizzes about that content. This policy explains how we handle information when you use the Extension.
What's sent to our server
When you click Summarize, the Extension transmits the following to our Cloudflare Worker solely to process your request:
- The extracted text content of the current page (article body, PDF text, or YouTube transcript)
- Your selected settings (summary length, response length)
- Questions you type into the Q&A tab
All transmission is over HTTPS. This data is used only to generate your response — it is not logged, stored, or linked to any identifier after your request is fulfilled.
What we never touch
We do not collect, store, or process any of the following:
- Your name, email address, or any account information
- Your browsing history or the URLs you visit
- Cookies or tracking identifiers of any kind
- Any data from pages where you don't trigger the Extension
- Analytics, telemetry, or usage statistics
- Payment or financial information
The data flow, step by step
When you click "Summarize", the Extension reads the visible text of the current page using a content script running entirely in your browser. That text is then sent to our backend API worker hosted on Cloudflare Workers.
The Worker forwards the content to a Groq AI model (Llama-3.3-70B) to generate your summary, then streams the result directly back to your browser popup.
No content is written to any database. The worker processes each request in memory and discards all data once the response has been delivered.
Who else is involved
The Extension relies on the following third-party infrastructure to process requests:
- Cloudflare Workers — our serverless backend runtime. Subject to Cloudflare's Privacy Policy.
- Groq (Llama-3.3-70B) — AI model provider used to generate summaries and Q&A responses. Content you send is not used to train models per Groq's data policy.
We do not share your data with advertisers, data brokers, analytics providers, or any other third parties beyond those listed above.
What stays on your device
The Extension uses Chrome's storage API to save your preferences (theme, summary length, response length) locally on your device. This data never leaves your browser and is only used to restore your settings between sessions. You can clear it at any time via Chrome's extension settings.
Under 13
summeriser. is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children. If you believe a child has submitted content through the Extension, please contact us and we will take immediate steps to address it.
When this policy updates
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. When we do, we will update the effective date shown at the top of this page.
We encourage you to review this page periodically. Continued use of the Extension after any update constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
